Don't Eat Too Much.

So the whole message of Food Rules in a nutshells is this: Eat food. Mostly plants. Not too much. In the first two posts about the book, I mentioned that finding real food and eating leaves were incredibly difficult. I suppose they were, but the third section was by far the hardest for me. It turns out I eat a lot, and my body didn't like it when I tried to stop. Most of these rules basically say the same thing, so I'm grouping a lot of them together.

Eat Food. Mostly Plants.

So while you can't really go wrong when you're eating real foods, it turns out that some foods are better for you than others. This section is probably the hardest for me. It tells me to eat things that I don't mind eating, but aren't my favorite. But since I've cut out 90% of the things I was previously eating, I had to eat something. A lot of the rules in this section I've heard before and ignored, so I'm leaving out some of the common ones (especially since I'm still ignoring them!).

Eat Food.

How hard should it be to find and eat real food? Apparently, it's pretty difficult because that's the first rule in Michael Pollan's Food Rules. Most of the foods I had been eating fell into the category of "edible food-like substances." Until I realized that these foods were making me sick, I never thought much of it.

The inspiration!

So this is something I've been working on for a few months in my own personal life. My friends are interested, but I don't think they want me talking about it constantly like I currently do. I'm sure having this as an outlet will help!

I've wanted to see Food Inc ever since it came out, but I never got around to it. When it came out, I put it on my Netflix, but since my Netflix has close to 200 movies on it, it wasn't coming anytime soon. Luckily, I came up with the brilliant idea of giving it to my father for Christmas. I knew he would want to see it, and I would be there. Perfect.
